Originally introduced in 1996, the Porsche Boxster is reputed to be one of the best roadsters worldwide when you consider its road handling capabilities. The Boxster is still an extremely powerful vehicle with awesome speed and has only been given minor interior changes and horsepower upgrades through the years. Showcasing popular designs, Porsche usually maintains the same appearance for an extended period of time.
A second-generation Boxster using even more power was unveiled in 2005 but remained consistent with Porsche’s typical design structure. Comparable to a Porsche Spyder, it nevertheless has the dual seats along with six cylinders and a mid-engine that it had in earlier models. The structure and electronics of the latest Boxster are still over 50% borrowed from the 911 Carrera. The 2005 features considerably more power than the 2004 version due to alterations of the torque and increased horsepower. The 2005 Boxster S was nearly an identical match to the very best of the series Porsche 911 Carrera with its ability to accelerate and easily drive at top speeds.
The Boxster’s hallmark trombone sound that arises with its exhaust is not like that of any other vehicle. Because the engine is a more compact version of the six-cylinder that can be found in the Carrera, that makes this an amazing thing. A five-speed manual transmission is exactly what the Boxster comes with normally, but if you want a six-speed, it is optional. An alternative choice may be to fit the Boxster with the five-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, created by Porsche, which is spectacular. A more recent development where automatic vehicles are shifted by hand has made this possible. Even though Boxster can be described as a top quality vehicle inside and out, it is certainly not a luxurious car.
Earlier models of the car were judged for appearing to be cheap but the interior has received some quality upgrades in newer versions. The middle console has gained an updated appearance with simulated titanium paneling and a modified gearshift. The brand new Boxster has much better seating with better quality body shape and support. Transporting belongings around won’t cause you any headaches because the Boxster has a small trunk in the back and a bigger one in the front under the hood. An enjoyable quality of the Boxster, and likewise one of the best, is the powered convertible top, that opens and shuts quickly, up to 30 mph. The roof can tolerate any type of weather and is made of noiseless cloth tops, while the back window boasts heated glass.
The six-cylinder engine that sits behind the seats in front of the rear axle, gives the Boxster the name of a mid-engine car. You simply won’t find the engine beneath the hood because it is not really there. To check out the engine, you are going to have to lift the car so you can get under it. A much more even weight distribution is a welcome benefit of the car’s engine being positioned near the center of the car. That is why the Porshe Boxster handles so incredibly well.
